We are honored to practice evidence-based care and utilize shared decision-making while providing an environment of safety and respect for all families.
Not only are we deeply passionate about birth but we are also inspired by a functional medicine approach and getting to the root of women’s health concerns. We are so excited to offer functional medicine, holistic hormone care, and functional medicine support for women both in and out of pregnancy – something that is a rarity in our country today.
My journey to midwifery started while I was working as a massage therapist when I found a deep connection to my pregnant patients. The childbearing year is so transformative I knew I wanted to support this transition full time. In 2004, I started working in a freestanding birth center and home birth practice. I immediately knew I had found my passion in midwifery.
After spending several years working as a registered nurse in home birth, birth centers, and hospitals, I completed my master’s degree in midwifery at Frontier Nursing University in 2018. Since then, I have had the joy of supporting families grow both in hospital and out-of-hospital settings.
When I was introduced to functional medicine, I felt like this connected my roots in holistic health and traditional Chinese medicine to my western medicine education. This system addresses the root cause of dis-ease and treats the whole person; physically, emotionally and spiritually. It has been a great addition to my practice for women of all ages and stages of life.
In my personal life, I am the mother of three — a son and twin daughters. During harvest season, you can find me at my family’s apple orchard or hunting. As a family, we love to travel, explore national parks, and bake lots of sourdough.
I have been so blessed to have a rich career in women’s health and midwifery. I started my journey into midwifery as a nursing student, reading the memoir “The Baby Catcher” and I was hooked! I knew that this was what I wanted to do. Soon after graduating from nursing school, I decided to go back to graduate school. At the time, I didn’t feel ready to be a midwife. This led me to study women’s health, and become a women’s health nurse practitioner at the University of Minnesota. I practiced in the Twin Cities as a nurse practitioner for 8 years. After birthing two of my own babies, and feeling the itch to get back to my dream of being a midwife, I returned to school and added midwifery to my degree. I graduated in 2014 and have been practicing since.
Throughout the years, I have been honored to help welcome over 500 babies into the world as a midwife and countless more as a nurse. Lately, I have also become very interested in offering bioidentical hormone therapy. With a functional medicine, whole-body approach, I treat menopause, perimenopause, PMS/PMDD, PCOS, and fertility.
In my personal life, I am married to my husband Luke and we have three children Lina, Penny, and Walter. We live in Stillwater, MN. I enjoy spending time with my family, being outdoors, and being involved in my local parish.
